The family dining room has been a favorite of all the First Families. The Blue Danube china and the misen candlesticks which were used in the first residence determined the hues of the room when the residence was built. That tradition has been continued even though the room has been brightened by the addition of the gold wallpaper and draperies.
The original corner cabinets have been mirrored and lighted... and atop the cabinets, you will notice the artwork, especially painted for the residence depicting the state bird, the Meadowlark, in the four seasons by Mary Kay Gibilisco of Ashland, Nebraska.
The "9 to 5" pictures above the chests, painted by Judy Graff of Ashland, Nebraska add a sense of peacefulness to the room... making a very cozy setting. |
