The multi-colored, custom made carpet reflects the molding on the white pine fireplace. The fireplace was carved by Keats Lornez who also carved the Senate Chamber door in the Capitol.
Much of the furniture in the drawing room is original to the residence and was refinished or reupholstered. The empire sofa and the piano are from Nebraska's first Governor's residence. The rest was either donated to the State Historical Society or sold at public auction. The demi-lune on either side of the fireplace were hand-painted by Andy Moore, a Nebraska artist. The antique, irish library table was a private donation to the residence. The painting over the fireplace is by Eugene Kingman, a Nebraska artist. Note the Sandhill Crane lamps and statuary that are representative of Nebraska wildlife.
The wool carpet was custom made by Edward Fields Co. of New York.
The artwork on the east wall above the empire sofa entitled "Capitol Seasons" was commissioned for the Governor's residence as part of Nebraska's 1% for art program. Artist Allan Tubach of Omaha chose Nebraska's Capitol as the center of the painting. Also shown are elements of the historic Kennard and Ferguson houses, St. Mary's Catholic Church, First Baptist Church, the Veith Building located in the Haymarket, Architecture Hall on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus, the Cornhusker Hotel and the Platte River.
The chandeliers are french antiques dating back to the late 1800's.
The Lenox bicentennial bowl on the game table was a gift from the Wives of the Nebraska State Legislators.
